Smile! You're on candid camera......

....Or at least I thought I was! I made a good attempt at Belly Casting, and well, what a joke!
I began my Belly Casting adventure with:
1.) a giant plastic sheet
2.) 75 varying length strips of plaster
3.) a large bowl of warm water
4.) vaseline
5.) gloves
6.) a bare belly, of course! :)
Here are a few pictures of the BEFORE...
Plastic sheet draped over my counter, across my entire bathroom floor and over my bathtub

I thought this would minimize the mess....boy was I wrong!

Step 1. Grease the momma

Plaster strips and water
I had really thought this thing through, but as anyone who has ever made a casting of anything knows, there is absolutely no clean or easy way to do it.
I greased myself from my neck to the bottom of my belly and began laying the wet casting strips across my belly and chest. Things got tricky downright awful really fast!!! The plaster strips drip everywhere, which was ok because I had laid down plastic, but nobody warned me about the drops of plaster water that get flung onto the walls, mirrors, and ceiling.....yes, the ceiling! To make matters even worse, the Vaseline that I had to grease up with to prevent the plaster from adhering to my skin was working TOO well, and as soon as the plaster strip began to dry even a little, it would start to fall off! So there I am, standing naked and greased like a pig in my plastic covered bathroom hell, trying to hold each strip of plaster to myself while also trying to dip new strips of plaster in the water and apply them to my belly without flinging water on the walls....at one point I honestly starting looking around for the camera. In fact, I wish there had been one because I would have been the proud winner of Americas Funniest Home Videos!
I managed to finish the cast, which has already begun falling apart, and took a picture (because it's going to last longer than the cast is)!
The Belly Casting War Zone AFTER

My belly cast drying on the edge of the tub because it's too wet and flimsy to go anywhere else.

Side view of the belly cast. You can see it's already tearing and collapsing.
If you are pregnant (or ever get pregnant) and think you might want to Belly Cast, I DO NOT recommend it unless you enjoy standing for at least an hour (not fun while 37 weeks preggo) while also not breathing too deeply because it makes the cast move and fall off, and you must also enjoy a minimum of an hour worth of setup and an hour of clean-up. Oh, did I forget to mention that you will also have to take a LONG shower to scrub off plaster and Vaseline from every part of your body?! It's like when you go to the beach, and end up finding sand in places that sand should never go....it's the same concept for Belly Casting!
Cost of Belly Casting Kit: $20.....Hours of Prep, Casting, & Cleanup: 3.......Having a wonderfully embarrassing story to tell Camryn someday while showing her my mangled belly cast: PRICELESS!

37 Week Checkup

We went in for another one of our weekly checkups this morning, and Camryn is doing great! At 37 weeks I have gained a whopping 30 pounds and now tip the scales at 150lbs....eeekkk!!! My blood pressure is holding steady at about 100/60 at almost every visit, and Camryn's heart rate is averaging 145-155 at each visit. Dr. Breedlove measures my belly at every visit, and surprisingly we didn't have any growth this week (but Dr. B wasn't concerned, I'm sure she'll just check next week to see if she's grown more). Camryn likely weighs about 6lbs. 5 oz. this week, and she has been craving ice cream a LOT! :) We're also getting cervical exams at each appointment as of last week, and when I was checked last monday she was VERY low but I wasn't dilated, but this week I'm a 1! I was hoping she'd check me and say "OH MY! You're in labor, lets go across the street and have a baby!", but that just wasn't the case this time....but any progress is exciting!
Taylor & I are so anxious and antsy waiting on this little girl! 25 days or less and we'll be parents!!!

New Poll!!

Now that we have a better idea of how much Camryn currently weighs, I thought this would be a good time to let everyone "weigh-in" on what they think her final birth weight will be! I have created a new poll (under her picture) for everyone to place their votes. At 35.4 weeks she weighed 5 pounds 15 ounces, and babies gain an average of up to a half pound per week....you do the math! :)

We can't wait to see what y'all think!!!

35.4 Weeks

35 weeks

Two of our great friends were married on Friday, so Taylor & I dressed up and helped them celebrate! Fitting into a dress at 35 weeks pregnant was no small task! :)
Here's a few more progress photos:

35 weeks

My back hurts lately....I wonder why?!

Taylor & I had our newborn care class on Saturday and reviewed a lot of things we already knew, but also learned a few great tips and tricks that should help, so it was an overall success. The best part of class was watching my big strong hubby carry around a little baby doll and dress her, change her diaper, and bathe her....of course I took a picture!
Daddy & his baby girl doll

Mommy & baby doll

Mothers Day was absolutely wonderful, and I was spoiled with love from friends, family, and of course my sweet husband! My morning started off with apple-strudel waffles, bacon, and coffee...and the best part was when Taylor cleaned the kitchen after we ate! Then he brought on the gifts!!! Daddy & Camryn got me a beautiful charm bracelet and 3 charms to start my collection, as well as dangling pearl earrings (Camryn's birthstone is pearl). He also got me the "Mother to Daughter" book I wanted. He is so thoughtful in his gifts!

Baby Block
It was so beautiful out so we went to Lakeway for the day and ate lunch at Oasis overlooking the water. I could have stayed there forever, it was breathtaking! That's one of the things I love about Austin, a 30 min. drive and you can feel like you're on vacation in the Caribbean overlooking the ocean and little sandy islands!
We came home and played with the dogs with the hose and then took them for a walk, and then ended our night snuggled on the couch with ice cream sundaes. Does it get any better?! Thank you to everyone who helped make my first mothers day so wonderful and memorable. All your calls, texts, e-mails, and cards meant the world to me!

Big News!!! We had our 36 week ultrasound today to measure Camryn and determine her positioning, and she is in the 47th percentile, and weighs approximately 5 pounds 15 ounces. Dr. Breedlove is estimating her to weight between 7.5-8.5 lbs. by delivery (YAY!!! No 9 or 10 lb. baby for this mama) depending on if I go to 40 weeks or not. She is not only head down, but is VERY low, Dr. B was actually surprised by how low she is. I had my first of many cervical exams today and although Camryn's in the head down position and low, I am not yet dilated, but "very soft and thin". Taylor has been laughing at me because I no longer walk, I waddle. Also very exciting.....Dr. Breedlove is on-call at the hospital on our due date, so if I have not yet gone into labor by June 10th I will be scheduled for induction that morning! Anyone who voted that we'd deliver after the 10th voted wrong! 32 days left to either deliver or be induced...... :)

34.4 week progress

With just over 5 weeks until our due date, I am feeling surprisingly fantastic! Sleep has been hit and miss for the past 5 weeks, but as many moms have informed me, this is just mother nature getting me ready for many more sleepless nights. My back started to ache pretty severely over the last 2 weeks, but stretching and exercising seems to really help, and when all else fails my sweet husband never complains about giving me a massage! My heartburn is always present...yet I continue eating spicy food 24/7, so how can I really complain? :)
So what's new with Camryn? Well, we estimate her to weigh in at about 5 lbs. and be about 20 inches in length. All of her organs have fully developed, and her biggest task is gaining weight and continuing brain development. Her finger nails have probably reached the tips of her fingers by now, and soon she'll be getting manicures with mommy! As of last Friday, Camryn is considered 100% healthy enough to be delivered and the doctors wont stop her from coming if I go into labor, in fact she would likely not even need a stay in the neonatal nursery.
On Monday May 9th we are having our very last ultrasound to get a more exact weight and length, and to determine Camryn's position. She will gain an average of 1/2 - 1 lbs. per week in the last 4 weeks (a gain of 2-4 lbs.), so cross your fingers that she weighs no more than 6 lbs. on Monday, otherwise we'll have a very LARGE baby!! I would be thrilled with a 7-8 lb. baby, but 9-10 lbs. is a little scary!
Here are a few photos of my growing belly....and swelling everything else! More photos of a few final additions to Camryn's room coming soon, as well as some adorable pictures of our pups peering through the baby gate (which I'm sure Camryn will sit on the other side of taunting them, and getting many wet doggy kisses through)!
