Welcome to Our Pregnancy Website!

We're Pregnant!!!

Welcome to our pregnancy & eventually our baby website. We will do our very best to keep all of you updated as often as possible on any new milestones in our pregnancy, as well as any new ultrasounds and doctors appointments we have. We have been taking weekly photos since about 6 weeks along, and will continue to take photos to share with all of you.

What's been happening up until now......

We are 11 weeks, 3 days into our pregnancy, and the baby is about 2in long (the size of a lime), and weighs only a third of an oz. His/Her fingers and toes have separated and are no longer webbed,  and fingernail and toenail beds are forming (fingernails will be growing in the next few weeks). Although it's too early to see by ultrasound, our baby is beginning to form genitalia, and if it's a girl she is forming ovaries this week. He/she has ears that are in their final location, nasal passages on the tip of the nose, a tongue, nipples, and hair follicles!

We've had 2 doctors appointments already, the first was at 6 weeks to confirm that we were pregnant and to have our first ultrasound to see if the baby had a beating heart, which he/she did! The doctors were a little concerned because the heartbeat was a little slower than they had hoped for, but we went back a week later and saw and heard the increased heartbeat. There's nothing in the world more beautiful and relieving than the sound of your baby's beating heart!

On Wednesday the 10th Taylor pricked my finger for an at home blood test that will determine if the baby has an development problems to date, such as down syndrome, or any chromosomal abnormalities. We will be seeing the doctor on Nov. 24th for the results and for another ultrasound to check the neural tube development.

I have been feeling nauseous, dizzy, and exhausted the last 6 weeks, but I feel like I'm turning a corner and regaining some of my energy and I'm less and less "under the weather" feeling everyday. I can see light at the end of this first-trimester tunnel!

Taylor and I are as unprepared for parenthood as is possible, so we've been spending a lot of our time reading parenting books, "what to expect" books, and of course skimming through our dictionary-sized baby names book. We are very lucky to have had such wonderful parents ourselves who have given us a solid foundation of what good parenting looks like!

Pictures are coming soon :)
